The GPS (Global Positioning System) is a global satellite-based positioning system developed and operated by the US Department of Defense. It enables position determination anywhere on Earth with approximately 5–10 meters of accuracy. Proper signal reception is essential for accurate positioning, with open areas being ideal. In enclosed spaces, near tall buildings, or with natural obstructions, signal quality may decrease or positioning may fail. Poor GPS signal can also reduce the accuracy of distance calculations.
